Today we would like to take this opportunity to celebrate and acknowledge Richard Hess as he retires from his position as Group Chairman of Imani Development International.
Richard Hess started Imani in 1982 in Zimbabwe, from his humble home office in Harare. From these early beginnings the company grew to having a broad footprint across Eastern and Southern Africa, as well as a fully-fledged UK and Australian presence. To date it has provided its consulting services in more than 40 countries across the globe.
Richard has led the company over the last 35 years, and through his vision Imani Development has been at the forefront of providing development solutions with a local focus, especially in Africa. The company has also evolved providing new areas of expertise and attracting a diverse range of skills sets amongst its staff and associates. This has seen it transform from Trade and Export Market Development consultants in the early 1980’s to specialists in Regional Integration and Investment in the 1990’s and 2000’s. Today Imani Development now covers areas as diverse as Fairtrade, Aquaculture, Community and Wildlife Conflict Mitigation, Enterprise Challenge Funds and Economic Trade Policy.
Richard has now handed over the reins to the next generation of the Imani family who will carry forward his vision of facilitating poverty reduction in the developing world. It is a privilege to continue his legacy.
To Richard we say, thank you for the leadership and professional excellence you have set over the years, and seeing to it that Imani lives up to its name of ‘faith and confidence’.
We wish Richard and Bridgid all the very best as they embark on the next chapter of their journey through life.
