As part of our 40th anniversary celebration, each month we are profiling past employees who started their careers in development at Imani Development.
Donna Mataya currently serves as the Country Director at Raising Malawi in Blantyre, Malawi. She spent 6 years with Imani as a Business Consultant and M&E specialist.
Donna started off as an administration manager, coordinating and consulting on various projects in the Imani Malawi office. She completed a project management certificate and was given the opportunity to develop her skills as a financial inclusion and M&E consultant. She highlights the Business Innovation Facility (BIF2) project as one of the most notable projects she worked on, which received an A+ scoring from DfID. As one of the first market systems projects in the country, the BIF2 project helped her grow a versatile skill set including programme design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
After leaving Imani, Donna’s career continued to flourish as she transitioned into other roles at First Capital Bank and Raising Malawi.
In a recent interview with our Communications Officer, Donna shared reflections on her time at Imani and the impact it had on her career path. In her own words;
“Working at Imani reaffirmed my passion for development. This is where I’m happiest. Through this type of work you get to meet excellent people who are kind, people who are like minded and want to support the development agenda. I think Imani really started that path off for me, and that’s also why I’m working in my current job now.”
Have a listen to her interview with Chido Myambo.
