The Feed the Future Advancing Women’s Empowerment (AWE) Program is a five-year activity to enhance women’s empowerment and gender equality in agriculture systems. One of AWE’s key learning topics is identifying and assessing the impact of good practices for women’s empowerment in beyond production activities. AWE used the Feed the Future Malawi Agriculture Diversification (AgDiv) Activity soy kit intervention as a case study to assess the impact of beyond production interventions on women’s empowerment.
Imani Development was contracted by Market Share Associates to lead the impact assessment for AgDiv’s soy kit project. The assessment aimed to better understand how Feed the Future efforts in beyond production are impacting women’s empowerment and identify opportunities and practices to increase women’s participation in returns from higher value activities in agriculture or employment.
Key activities conducted by Imani Development include:
- Review of data collection tools
- Translation of tools
- Facilitating the data collection process
- Data cleaning
