The aquaculture sector in Madagascar is still in its infancy and integration of small scale producers into sustainable aquaculture value chains is still lacking. Norges Vel and NORAD have been supporting the Cooperative Union Tilapia de l‘Est (TDE) under various long-term support initiatives.
Imani Development was commissioned to provide technical assistance, to support the expansion of Cooperative Union Tilapia de l‘Est (TDE) sustainable Tilapia production model. The main objective of this project is to increase stable income and jobs for rural and urban populations on the East coast and in the capital Antananarivo in Madagascar. The aim is to develop TDE to become fully sustainable financially, environmentally and organizationally by end 2023.
