The MOZ 2462 (18/0023) Scaling Up Profitable Aquaculture in Mozambique project aimed to address food insecurity in Mozambique through sustainable aquaculture. Implemented by Papa Pesca, this initiative focused on establishing a tilapia aquaculture value chain, promoting local employment, and enhancing community skills. Imani Development conducted an end-term review to assess project impacts, sustainability, and outcomes.
The initial project included developing aquaculture infrastructure, providing training in tilapia farming and business management, and establishing domestic market channels. The review evaluated the project’s relevance, effectiveness, and alignment with Mozambican and Norwegian policies on food security and economic development. While challenges like market access and financial sustainability affected outcomes, the project enabled local employment and supported sustainable aquaculture practices.
