The purpose of this engagement was to support a rapid assessment of the aquaculture sector in DRC to better understand its structure and dynamics. This assessment provided the basis to decide if there is a potential for DFID to support the sector with a view on both reducing poverty and improving nutrition among the poor population in the country.
Specific tasks performed by Imani Development included:
• Primary data collection in selected locations in North and South Kivu provinces with some additional interviews in Kinshasa. The data is expected to be suitable to answer the research questions outlined in the separate DFID ToR.
• Support and mentor the accompanying DSU consultant so she can successfully coninue the data collection in Tanganiyka province on her own.
• Synthesise the findings in a report that builds the basis of the DSU research study report to DFID. The report is supposed to respond to the research questions.
