Falling within Imani’s Transport and Infrastructure capacity, the Economic Impact Study was concerned with identifying and quantifying the economic impact of the proposed Kokstad intersection upgrade in South Africa. In particular, assessment focused on businesses and land use or commercial activities within the construction corridor – mainly the M56 between the N2 intersection and the town of Kokstad.

Imani’s work entailed delivery of intensive fieldwork activities to determine the social and economic impacts of constructing a new interchange and the impact on business, including the tourism sector. Collected data was modeled within different risk scenarios and compiled within a report for the client to advise decision making moving forwards.
