Alex Mugova is a Market Systems Development specialist with over 25-years experience working in the development sector, mainly in Eastern and Southern Africa. Alex is currently serving as the Senior Portfolio Manager for the EU-funded ENTERPRISE Zambia Challenge Fund, a five-year programme providing matched grants and technical assistance to agribusinesses to enable them to integrate 150,000 smallholder farmers as their customers/suppliers. Prior to this, he was the Country Manager for the Business Innovation Facility (BIF) in Malawi. BIF was a private sector development programme funded by the Department for International Development (DFID) to support private firms working in three markets (rice, pigeon peas and solar products) in Malawi. Before that he worked as the Market Systems Development Specialist for Creating Opportunities for Sustainable Spending on Roads (CrossRoads)in Uganda. The project focused on building the capacity of local contractors through training, facilitating access to finance and equipment and policy reform to create a competitive and sustainable roads industry in Uganda.
